Understanding the specific verbiage and abbreviations involved with Amazon FBA is impertinent to becoming a successful seller. There are several commonly used abbreviations on Amazon Seller Central, and today we are going to tell you what those are and what they mean. Without further ado, Black Caiman Media presents the Amazon FBA Abbreviations Glossary!

Abbreviations Glossary:
3P – 3P stands for Third-Party Seller. 3P describes a business that sells a product that is not their own brand or product.
ASIN (Child, Parent): ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number, and is referred to as either a child or the parent ASIN. An ASIN has 10 letters and numbers in a unique sequence that is used for product identification purposes on Amazon. A parent ASIN is the non-buyable entity that is displayed only in the search results of Seller Central, and serves to establish relationships between the child ASINs/products.
BSR: BSR stands for Best Seller Rank. This ranking is the order and ranking of a seller’s product in a particular category, and this ranking is updated regularly based on sales history. Without sales, the product will be considered as “None” in ranking.
COGS: COGS stands for Cost of Goods Sold. This is the value of goods/products that are sold to buyers and that cost is detracted from the profit of the sale.
CPC: CPC stands for Cost Per Click. CPC is a term used in regard to Sponsored Ads on Amazon, which cost the seller a small fee every time a customer clicks on the ad.
EBC: EBC stands for Enhanced Brand Content, also known as A+ Content. EBC is available for sellers who are brand registered on Amazon and it supplies additional content and branding opportunities. EBC can incentivize potential buyers with more visuals and product information.
FBA: FBA stands for Fulfilled By Amazon. With Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), sellers are able to store products in Amazon’s fulfillment centers/warehouses and rely on Amazon to pick, pack, ship, and provide customer service.
FBM: FBM stands for Fulfilled By Merchant. This is a less expensive option for sellers who want to ship products to buys themselves. FBM is better for exclusive products, products with lower margins or small volume products, however it does not provide shipping, handling, customer service and other benefits reaped from FBA.
FNSKU: FNSKU stands for Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit. An FNSKU is an Amazon FBA product identifier, therefore indicating that the product is fulfilled by Amazon and not the merchant.
MFN: MFN stands for Merchant Fulfilled Network. MFN describes all the sellers, or the network of sellers, who utilize Amazon FBM program.
The abbreviations above are some of the most prevalent ones used on Amazon FBA, however, there are more than these to be informed about. Stay tuned for next week’s blog, Amazon FBA Abbreviations Glossary Part 2, which will be posted on the Black Caiman Media blog page!
